Hi to all,

some may remember me but it is quite a while since I have been on here, never seem to have enough hours in the day and with having the house and such a damned big garden, plus working, it does not leave much time. We have also had few power outages due to the summer storms we get in this part of the woods and it caused us to have a major power outage and we lost all our internet connection plus lights, phone, you name it, we lost it. Anyway most things got back pretty quick but it has taken us a couple of weeks to get the internet back on,apparently the storm not only blew the phone but also the modem!!!!

Anyway just to let you all know that Alan is doing well with his business and is getting some really good jobs in, I have been working but have also had interviews to work at the same bank as my daughter and after 3 really hard interviews, I GOT IT!!!!!! Start on the 14th August, with an excellent salary, benefits and holidays from day 1 so I am thrilled to pieces. All in all this has been the best move we have made and we are so glad we decided to "pack up and leave the UK" It is wonderful to be able to see my daughter and the kids whenever I want and it is great to be able to go out with her and her hubby on Saturdays. Just really looking forward to Christmas!!!

July 4th was fantastic as it was our first here and so we are also looking forward to our first Thanksgiving.

We have not been homesick at all, so fingers crossed we never will be.

To each and everyone of you who have been successful in getting here, hope you have a wonderful life and to those going "through it" you will get there, keep your chins up and the time will pass.

Hey all, that was really sweet of you all, thanks so much. It really is a good feeling to know that we are well and truly happy here. I must admit I was a bit concerned for Alan, after all Donna is his stepdaughter and with him being younger than I am (OK, only by 8 years  ) he was giving up so much more in the UK, but he loves it here and is really best friends with our son-in-law (they even go to the gym together!!!)

Life is good and I will be forever grateful and thankful that we made it, I also know that Jenart, along with her husband, immigrated through their daughter and they are up in Idaho and are loving it too. They have a fantastic property and their horses are with them and the view from their bedroom window is to die for, so another success story.

It would appear to all us brits and I guess many more who have moved over here from Europe, that this heat is unbelievable, the humidity is worse and people seem to take great delight, in the nicest possible way mind you, of telling me that it will get worse :o Stop me someone if I start saying "I MISS THE SNOW"""" all lies

Great to hear from you all, TracyTN - absolutely made up for you and Chas

Hopefully will be on here a bit more in the next few weeks, just got to get settled in this new job which I start on the 14th - send me loads of the old MOJO people, I may need it!!!!!

Val....PPS --even joined a gym !!!!!!!

I know what you mean about the humidity Val, i cannot handle it at all!! so most of the time i sit in the house with the A/C going, my hubby took me to the local chicken clucking festivel (i know yer laughing) put it this way...i wont be going back lmao i got brought home with heat exhaustion  never again so i hide out in the house now till it cools down outside, usually the neighbours done see me till around 8pm  its just too hot.

Went for my Learner's Permit the other day, never driven in my life, LOL, of course i had to sit a written test  and surprise surprise the examiner said i'm the first foreigner that he's known in that county ever to get 100% on the Test  i had a big cheesy grin on my face because i had only studied the drivers manual for about 4 days

Anyways, glad you made it to the states and you and alan and doing good. Hope to see you around VJ alot more. Good luck with the new job  Take care.
