Pls how soon after receiving the k1 visa does one have to leave the country , is it 6 months from the date of medical or 6 months from the date of visa approval ?
haven’t gotten to that stage yet but just want to get it clear cos a friend of mine is in this particular phase and we argued about it , so I decided to put it out here for clarification.

The visa expiration date will be no more than 6 months after the medical.... could be even less.

6 months from medical exam

The validity period of an immigrant and fiancé(e) visa is based on the medical examination, the maximum validity of which is six months from the date on which it is performed

Okay thanks

Could even be less ? Do you mean if someone enters the US on the 4th month after the Medicals they won’t be allowed in ?

No.  That is not what I mean.  The visa holder must enter the US on or before the expiration date printed on the visa.  The printed expiration date will normally be 6 months after the medical exam.  Sometimes, the expiration date is sooner than 6 months.

Example:  My wife's visa expiration date was only 5 months after her medical.
