K1 petition - current processing time is unjustifiably long!

pl call and write to the congressmen and senators on this delay. this has a direct impact on the marriage and life of the citizens of this country.

our USCIS should give priority to this visa processing over some types of visas such as H-1 and all.

only if many of act together we can expect some change. as citizens of this country we deserve this and we should demand it.

here is the link that you can use to contact your senator,

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_info...enators_cfm.cfm

u can google search "congressman state_name" (for eg: congressman nebraska") to find out the list of the congressmen from your state.

pl. call them and e-mail them. let us do this together. then we will see some change. otherwise, we all will suffer though the slow K1 processing.

thanks,

They will just lump it into the big immigration revamp that the politicians want to do and knowing how politicians work this should take a good 50 years or so.

I agree that they will do that if only 1 or 2 people speak, but if enough do, then maybe the story might be different

I'm fine with waiting what has been the norm, approx 6 months from filing to getting my bride here, that is what my SO and i are expecting. I'm not going to piss off no politician by e-mailing and complaining when there is no need to yet.

Now if my petition takes longer than what is posted on the USCIS site, I will take appropriate action then, only when I have a leg to stand on.

Just my 2 centavos worth.............

Exactly what I was thinking. If we call and nag them it will only stop them from helping someone who actually NEEDS it, like someone who has been waiting 6 months for their NOA2.

I'm really hoping for a quick process as we already have our wedding booked for Feb 11th 2008... Gonna be cutting it fine... And does anyone know if the California Centre delays can be counteracted by sending the petition to another centre?

thanks,

How long have you been waiting? As far as I can see, you have no timeline other than just your name and that of your fiancée, no other information. I'm sure the congressmen and women, as well as the senators, know the lengthy timeframe of this process. How will demanding anything achieve the desired result you wish for? Everyone of us on this board has had to wait...some longer than others. It's just the way it is. Jasman is right...it would take a good long while for anything to change as far as the length of time it takes to process these kinds of petitons. You have no idea how many of these cases are worked on daily that are not represented here on VJ. No one is denying the K1 or any other visa process is slow and draining, but IMHO it depends on how bad you want this. As someone else put it...what's a few months of waiting when you have your entire lifetime together?

I'm really hoping for a quick process as we already have our wedding booked for Feb 11th 2008... Gonna be cutting it fine... And does anyone know if the California Centre delays can be counteracted by sending the petition to another centre?

Nope. You can't choose which center your petition is sent to. Booking a wedding before the visa is in hand isn't usually advisable.

Not sure if this will help. But I was waiting for 9 months for my I-130 to be processed in Vermont service center. beacuse of all the wiating I sent in a I129 F for a K3 Visa for my husband and that was sent to the Missouri center, soon after I got a letter that the I-129 F was transferred to the VERMONT sErvice Center and about 3 weeks later I got an email and letter that my I-130 was approved. So, what I am saying is that typically when a case is transferred from one place to another center it is for FASTER processing....Trust me I know how you feel...Hang in there :innocent:
