Oh thats good really happy for your man. I also wanted to ask did u paid the USCIS immigration fee on the day you received the passport with the visa packet and everything or how long before we are suppose to travel US?

You should pay the fee before entering the US on your visa. You can also pay the fee after, but it will delay your card. Your visa will have an expiry date, enter before that date.

Thank you so much! I paid it the day I received my passport and I did it online. I had plans of crossing to the US the same day as well and I was actually worried if it would cause issues paying online in case there was a delay in processing the payment but nope, all good! I’m pretty sure you can pay it later too but, I would suggest doing it before attempting to cross.

Now my DS-260 on CEAC IV site says "re-opened". No mention of a medical. Wth am I supposed to do with that. Law firm is useless at guidance, consulate will take weeks to respond. I am fed up.

That's rather confusing, I've only heard of that happening if some information is missing or needs to be updated or if it's been over a year since the DS-260 was signed (and you haven't had your interview yet). In your case, the only thing that is possible is info needs updating (i.e. the medical), it may take them a minute to indicate that and what else (if anything) needs updating. You've been patient this long, give them another month or so. At least there is movement on your case, even if it is still endlessly frustrating. Who is your law firm btw?

Law firm is Hacking. The whole thing is a mess really. You know things like that, just little things like this, they delay someone for months, because just clarifying any detail takes literally weeks. It is soooo tiresome.

Paralegal from Hacking says they will try to ask US attorney for guidance about this, but I can't say I am optimistic that I will get a clear answer. There are too many broken telephone links here and the consulate is always barely responsive. Looking at it in cold realistic terms, it looks like *someone*  has set me back at least yet another a month from what it needed to be here, because the clarification for what I am supposed to do next may literally take two weeks...

Your case has been so weird. I strongly feel like the consulate somehow really messed up with you…. Like they lost your file or something egregious like that…

I wish there was a way to sue them to recover damages caused…

But yes, atleast I hope this means they will actively look at your case and resolve it quickly.

I actually can't help feeling that they did this on purpose--not for egocentric reasons, I am not so important at all--but it is so ridiculous that it becomes harder to explain this by incompetence alone. Why? I have no idea. It isn't right that others be pushed ahead and I keep languishing.

Stay positive bro!  You are almost there. Send email to the consulate about request about second medical. Use the email to get started on the second medical. Ensure you have all the information that the physician might need. There may be some additional vaccinations that you might need. Check physician's website.  After your doctor sends the medical, it would take 2 weeks to get your visa in your passport!  I can see the light at the end of the long long long tunnel for you!!!! Good luck!

They reopened my moms DS-260 as well. And I just updated whatever needed to be updated.
In her case I had to update her trip to US she made in 2022 since that was within 5 years now.
I wonder if ds260 is reopened if your case has been pending for a certain period of time.

The email I got from embassy pointed out that my moms ds 260 was reopened and I need to submit the confirmation page barcode to them once it’s  completed.

wonder if their email went to your junk box?
but likely scenario is someone forgot to hit send on the email you’re supposed to receive asking for everything

but congrats! You’re done with ds5535 and just need to get through this last step! I know it’s hard to be optimistic but I hope you celebrate this victory. Happy for you!

I have no idea how to proceed. I do not want to touch the DS-260 if I am not required to. I am waiting for either the consulate or my law firm to tell me how to proceed on this.

Just log in and update anything required ( address for example) if no changes needed then you just go page by page to review and submit so you get that confirmation/ bar code needed.

It seems like a bad idea--because then that would open up the need to vet the form and documentarily qualify it again. I do not want to make any changes to the form that would spur on another bureaucratic process thread...

You are no longer subject to DQ by NVC. DS-260 unlock is by Consulate and the usual protocol when cases have been struck in AP for an extended time or delayed for other reasons ( like waiting for approval of waivers) .

I think it’s worth waiting for clarification

but if it helps, for my mom it didn’t add any Additional processing time. I had to add and delete trips within 5 years and update that her spouse lived in US. Got her visa within 4 weeks of submitting docs back to them.

but I highly suggest you get the RCMP police check again. It’s for sure going to be required and waiting time for that is 2-3 weeks. Get it asap and you’ll save some valuable time
