Did you have to leave Canada? What a tough situation

yeah spent a month in hotels between ottawa, toronto and monteal, and finally decided to head back to my home country (Pakistan) and have been staying with parents for last 3 months. All my stuff is still in US and i am still paying all my bills (rent, car, insurance etc)

I have been here for a couple months, reading up on posts, looking for similar situations and for any hope. My status was changed to issued today!!!!! I thought I'd post our timeline in case it may help anyone else.

Aug 11, 2022 - interview in Montreal. Refused due to incorrect police check, given 221 g. Kept my passport. Officer said it would take about a week to send my Visa back once they receive the correct police check.

Sept 13, 2022 - Canada Post Tracking confirmed police check was delivered to the Consulate address

Sept 14, 2022 - Case was updated  but still refused (unsure if because they received the check or because of replying to an email)

I sent two emails requesting confirmation of receipt of documents. They said they cannot confirm, the mail first goes to a sorting facility, then is given to an officer at the Consulate. Thanked me for my patience.

Oct 20, 2022 - status switched to Issued, may take up to 10 business days to receive the Visa.

Wanted to post our journey in case it gives anyone else some idea of what the timelines are looking like. Best of luck to everyone on here waiting. It is not for the faint of heart.

Hey @AVrv - thanks for posting. What type of visa did you apply for?

I applied for a spousal visa. Married to a US citizen.

May I know what visa this is? My husband won the diversity visa lottery and we had our interview on Oct. 6th in Montreal. Unfortunately, I was apparently randomly selected for the DS-5535 questionnaire. We're trying to understand the process because they kept our passports and we have travel plans for next month... Thanks!

I applied for a spousal visa

Yes. Our interview was the 13th. We had updates Sept 16th, Oct 11th, and Oct 12th. Nothing since, which is discouraging.

Ok please stay in touch if you hear anything

That's sad

I’m just sad to hear that so many people are getting DS-5535 that close together. The overall percentage of interviewees going into AP must be stupidly high.

Super coincidentally, or not?, my CEAC "Last updated" was updated today for the first time in months. I am not sure if this means the law firm filed the complaint or served them already, because I just approved the draft complaint on Friday...
