No. Apparently, the VO told my wife that they could call her in case they need more information but they didn't say anything about an email when my wife asked the VO.

The Visa officer kept their passports. My wife asked if they would email her for the information, and the VO told her they had her number so they could call her if needed.

We didn't get any emails or calls from them and I'm wondering if we should contact them for it or just wait.

 

Is anybody on this thread went through a similar situation to us?

Nope, they returned my passport, with the 221g letter. I think I am properly in the SAO process, so they didn't keep the passport. 

I'd say the fact that they kept their passports is a good sign, means that whatever they need to check can be done in house, and may not take too long. Fingers crossed.

They kept my passport at the interview, then I received an email stating that my case is in AP and I should go collect my passport if I am looking to travel in the next few weeks to months.

I see. Thank you for the info @ALC. I just checked their visa status and they got issued! 

I hope that your case will be processed sooner rather than later and this nightmare will be finally over.

@SGtoMurica How many days after interview did consulate sent email that you can get passport when needed. My Wife's case was put under AP but they did not returned our passport to us neither got any email for passport return instruction. Please suggest

Within 3 hours of the Interview, when they emailed us informing us that our case was placed in Administrative Processing.

Anyone has experienced second interview while going through administrative process. My husband was issued ds 5535 on july 6th ans since then there were almsot updates everyday on our case and today we got an email about 2nd interview. We are really worried, what can cause them

to do a second interview?

Does anyone know what e-mail we need to use to contact the Consulate? I have seen in this forum that others have referenced an IV-DV-MTL e-mail but on their webpage they have listed canada_contactus+ca+info+en@visaops.net.

The correct consulate email address is: Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov

My husband had his interview August 1 in Montreal with our daughter. Our daughter was approved, but my husband was denied and given 221g letter for DS5535. Does the consulate email the form or do we use the one indicated on the 221g?

@Kara.gana Did they kept passport for your husband & Daughter..? What status you see on CEAC for both of them. Does it show ISSUED or Refuse???. We are also in similar situation like your case.

@shara9c They kept my daughters, but returned my husbands. No status change on CEAC yet. Have you received an email yet?

@Kara.gana They kept passport for all of us but after 6 hours my spouse got an email for Administrative processing. Still waiting for update. CO mentioned to issue visa for me and our son but still no update. Is your daughter CEAC status is at ready or issued..?

@shara9c If I’m checking CEAC correctly there has been no change of status for either my husband or daughter. We however just received an email saying Montreal has released a document in regards to my daughter and it is being couriered to us. I’m guessing it her passport and visa.

Has your CEAC status changed for your husband?
