It will likely show "refused" or even switch to "administrative processing" and then back to "refused" right before they issue it.  This is what happened to me.  It's a roller coaster for sure. The updates are a really good sign, something is happening.  A few more weeks and you should be there!

Hi there!

Montreal asked for my passport and new medical on March 31. Got it to them April 13. And still no visa....

Anyone else had a similar situation?

I am on DV2023.

Send an Email with a catchy subject line with the word Urgent. DV's  do have a timeline before they don't issue them. So get on it.

Thanks very much. So folks are checking just to see if there are any updates in the date of last update?

Any idea why some folks are stuck in AP for so long (>3 months)? Just comparing it to the DV applicants who are in AP, average case wait time appears be to 70+ days.

Yes, some fixate on the dates, but it’s futile. It only means someone opened your file (for whatever reason) and it doesn’t necessarily indicate progress.

At MTL >3 months is the norm across all visa types. Sucks for DV especially as their applications sunset.

Interesting. Were you told the reason as to the delay to 120 days?

Here is the reason:

The change from 90 to 120 days is very recent,  the change occurred this Monday.
Previously our waiting period after an interview was 60days. However we are constantly changing these time frames based on the fluctuating processing times.

Currently the visa bulletin for the new month of August 2023 has retrogressed by 3 years. Where they were said to be processing cases from 2020 but will now be processing cases from 2017 due to the huge backlog.

Based on this we decided to change our waiting period after an interview to avoid having the lawsuits dismissed for filing too early and not giving them an opportunity to resolve the delay. Which they probably would not resolve by then due to the backlog but it is still something we need to consider to ensure we get a favourite outcome

To make matters worse, my friend just got engaged to a girl from South East Asia. She barely speaks English and has no formal training of any kind and they got accepted in under a year. This system is absolutely broken when an uneducated ESL speaker can get in before a university educated native English speaker. Feeling super (removed) off today.

Hi everyone, been following this thread for a bit. My husband interviewed in Montreal on April 27 and was asked to fill out a DS-5535 which we submitted a few days later. The last update to his case was May 8 until one on July 11. We haven't heard anything from the embassy in regards to that update and it was unsolicited. Curious if anyone else that interviewed around that time has seen any updates or movement or if random updates with no communication is typical. We're over two years in at this point and super frustrated like the rest of you.

Hello everyone. I had my interview yesterday and unfortunately was refused due to the birth certificate translation document. The officer handed me a refusal letter and on it she highlighted a form (ds-5535) and told me to fill it out. The link does not work. Can someone please help. It also says to send the document along with the passport. Is this normal?
