Thank you for the advice - I just sent one with my Refusal Letter attached but I will shoot over another one right now with all of that info too just to be safe. Will keep everyone here posted when I hear back!

Also just curious, I see so many "we've been waiting 6/10/12/14 months for approval after DS5535". Has anyone had it done in a more timely manner or is this basically the case for everyone?

This is mostly the case for everyone on DS5535, unless you file a WOM and you case is resolved with 2 - 3 months of filing WOM.

Hi everyone ,

Did anyone here ever contact a congressman in California? Would you kind sharing with me which one was willing to help you out or could help? I’m still stuck here with no word regarding sending our passports after getting second medicals done while back. Thanks tons in advance

They’re mostly useless, they get the same responses.

It's extremely difficult. I just came back from a two week visit to see my husband and it was such an amazing time but leaving him to come back was so difficult. I cried like a baby (he cried too eve though he was trying hard not to). Then I cried through my whole flight from YYC to Dallas and then from Dallas through MS. By the time I reached home my eyes were swollen. But I honestly just could not stop crying.

So I have asked to schedule a consultation with an attorney for the WOM. We have been apart long enough, we are an older couple and we really want and are dying to start our lives together and I have needed him all the more since my father's passing in 2021 for emotional support. I'm so sick of this treatment of married couples and keeping them apart for what seems like no reason.

There is no good reason. I have insisted all along that this was just a bureaucratic sleight of hand by enterprising managers in the bureaucracy trying to fulfill performance measures. I continue to believe that this is the only reason why 99.99% of us had this done to us. And it is gross.

Agreed. The State Dept basically doesn't feel the need to answer to Congress. They are part of the executive branch and they know what side their bread is buttered on.

It is absolutely cruel in effect. Bureaucracies have no emotions, though, and no motivations for anything but propagating themselves. The immigration system is producing perverse outcomes, and reforming it in any serious way is basically near impossible, considering the inanity of the binary political gangs, who are now held prisoner of their most extreme and unreasonable factions. And it's a cliche but also the bloody truthpoliticians and their various hangers-on only care about getting elected and staying that way. They don't give a ####### about policy. So this will stay this way for a lot longer and it will get worse.

Hello All.  I have been in AP since my interview in late November 2022.  I was issued the DS5355, since completed and immediately returned to the consulate.  I continue to wait like all of you, and so frustrating.  My case was updated a few times after the interview, followed by dry spell, and then finally another update in late January.  Nothing since...  My lawyer (assisted with my application way back) has sent email requests in, and no response.  I have asked my congressman to do the same (knowing that will likely do nothing), and he has not received a response.  I myself as the applicant sent an email early last week for the first time for an update, and requesting passport back, and no response.  We all received the automated email response confirming emails were received.  I find it a little bizarre that none of us have received a response - not even the typical generic response.  Is this unusual?  Thanks

Hi WMBB, Welcome to the AP club. Part of what's happening with your case is usual and part of it is not. To communicate to embassy please use email: Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov  .... You should receive a reply back in 7 business days. Please mention your full name, case number, DOB, date of interview etc.

People in AP DS 5535 have been waiting here for many months up to 1 -2 years unless they filed a WOM which helped to resolve their case quickly. (2 - 3 months after filing WOM). It's normal to have updates on CEAC status check. It's actually good thing because you know someone is working on your application. So it's normal what you're facing other than email response. You should get a response back in 7 business days (depends how busy are embassy people). Hope this helps!

Thank you for the helpful information.  That is the email that all of us have been using.   However no response for any of us in my party.  Some emails were sent a few weeks ago.  My email was 10 days ago.  I will continue to wait I guess.

I've emailed the embassy nearly 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for them to reply back to my previous email. Usually they respond to emails in a week but they've been terrible lately. I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only one noticing/experiencing this. It's ridiculous that email is the only method of communication with them.

I am rooting for all of you to settle this nightmare ASAP. I have received my passport with the stamp from the consulate and I am good to go at the time of my choosing. A lot to settle up here first however. I am thinking about entering for a few days and coming back, although I am apprehensive about CBP giving me a hard time about not just moving down in one shot. Some people have reported being hassled by them when entering...

just out of curiosity when did you hire your lawyer file your WOM? I'm trying to get an idea of how long it may take from hire to approve

IR-1/CR-1

Canada

February 2021 - Sent I-130

July 2021 - Sent expedite request

July 2021 - Approved

August 2021 - NVC Welcome Letters

November 2021 - NVC requests missing documents

December 2021 - Submitted missing docs to NVC

May 2022  Notice of interview appointment
