My visa now said ISSUED on Nov. 16! I cannot believe it! I first submitted my I-130 Jan 2020 and it was sent to NVC September 2020. My interview was November 2021 and I was issued the dreaded DS5535 and they requested a resume. After exactly a year and some odd days, I finally received an issued status. Some of you might be aware that my last update was Jan. 7, 2022 but in October I sent and email. In the email I explained that I received no updates for more than 10 months and I wanted to raise attention to my case and asked for a just and fair review. This worked for me because soon after, I started receiving 5 new updates and two weeks ago they requested a new medical, passport photos and my passport and I didn't go through with WoM.

I completely understand the hopelessness you all feel in this process and I wish you all the best, especially @ice-qube and @BatmanFlow although your mom is also nearing the end of this process too!

congratulations! super happy for you. when did you send all the requested documents back to them?

November 28th 2014 - AOS and IV Checklist (4 items in total. 3 for documents they lost. Called on December 9 and a rep said no checklist for IV....go figure)

December 8th 2014 - Checklist scan date.

December 30th 2014 - Case Compl........NOT. So after not having an interview date yet, I called again on Jan 30th and apparently its in final review with a supervisor.

Oh wow that’s a really fast turnaround time, compared to what I’ve noticed overall once people send additional documents.

they got my moms stuff November 10. Hopefully it’s not a long wait

Hi. Does anyone have experience with how long it took for the spouse's passport with visa to be delivered after husband's (principal applicant) passport with visa have been delivered already? My husband received his passport on Nov. 10 and I'm still waiting for mine... I received the 5535. I just think it shouldn't be that long because there's an expiry on the visa. Thanks!

So got a DS-5535 at the lovely interview last week. How does one remember 15 years of travel history ??

The same way you have to remember all the places you've lived since you were 16...pain, sweat and tears 😬  So sorry you were handed the 5535.

Here's my question if any of you can answer:

Once I receive my passport, can I cross the border and come back to Canada to take care of things here? Or is it a single entry visa that I can cross only once?

Thanks!

You can cross back and forwards, but remember, when you activate that visa, you become a PR of the US, so you stand to lose your Canadian health care benefits, etc.  Make sure you have yourself covered.  Or, just be mindful of the expiration date of the visa, make your arrangements and cross before the expiration.

Really? I did not know this - so if I cross to activate the visa, and turn around to come back to Canada right away (since I still have a place here), I lose healthcare? Even if I live here for next 5 months? This is confusing...

It is actually impossible to say exactly because there is no clear rule spelled out anywhere that I know of. We had this debate on another thread a while back. The answer is “maybe yes, maybe no”.

You really don’t need to spam your question.

This was already answered, you’ll get your passport back when you clear the 5535. It has nothing to do with your husband’s visa.

@lomnd sorry this is happening to you.  It must be very stressful that only one of you got the ds-5535.  Unfortunately as you can see by reading through pages and pages of posts, the ds-5535 is very unpredictable.  Before March 2022 there were some that were clearing without WOM suits filed, but after that only very, very few.  Since yours is a visa with an expiry (I am guessing DV?), you may have a better chance of not waiting as long as others here (some people are over a year of waiting now), but you can't count on that.  We waited 7 months and then filed a WOM and it took 3 months upon filing our case for the consulate to issue my visa.   It is a horrible process and I hope it resolves for you quickly, but there is just no way of knowing.  I would suggest after reaching 60 days of waiting, you reach out to the consulate asking for an update.  How much time do you have before your visa expires?
