What I am saying is there appears to be a fairly clear correlation with the advent of psych drugs and the rise in these type of events.  Guns, and specifically semiautomatic guns have been around for way longer than than psych drugs, but for some reason they were rarely used to perpetrate these type of events.  I am not expressly blaming the advent of psych drugs that some studies are showing are not very effective, rather, this should be studied more than the relying on the simple knee jerk gun control proclamations.

I'd merely say there's a fairly clear correlation that the perp was insane their entire life, had a very bad family background, enjoyed being cheered by others on the internet, and had access to weapons.

A person that is going to do these acts do not live in reality. They see alternate realities out of film/tv/media/games or create their own from delusions. They are egged on by others, fueled by hated and paranoia, and have access to all the weapons they need. To me there is little difference between the Charles Manson's of the world and the mass shooters of today. The drugs didn't make them that way. They emerged to life that way, were cultivated as a child to hatred, and had plenty of examples to work from. They usually had nothing else to lead them away from the path they were on, if not directly encouraged to go the way they did.

There's no difference between the Columbine killers or the dude who kidnapped/raped/murdered the Amish girl on her way from church, or the family that locked their children away with chains and starvation. They are insane persons, devoid of humanity, devoid of compassion, and devoid of life. Pills don't make them that way but lack of treatment or stopping medication can make a stabilized person go downhill real fast. There is nothing that can protect them or themselves or others. And there is nothing to stop them from getting their hands on weapons.

I was put into a lot of dangerous and neglectful situations as a child by someone that was mentally ill. They would frequently stop taking their medication because their pastor encouraged them to, they couldn't afford it, they took the wrong meds, or they listened to the voices in their head. There were consequences to that and there are still consequences now.

They would frequently stop taking their medication because their pastor encouraged them to, they couldn't afford it, they took the wrong meds, or they listened to the voices in their head. There were consequences to that and there are still consequences now.

And what should be studied is if these people were under the care of a mental health professional at anytime, did that have any impact on how they progressed or regressed, did the use of prescribed medications have any impact.  You seem to be implying that these folks were wired from conception to perpetrate these events, not really sure that is the case (nature vs nurture).  As to being insane their entire life, that is a bit of a stretch for events like this.  I would agree if we were talking about a serial killer or a serial rapist, but often these mass murder events are impulsive, and we would need to study all the factors that led up to the the person doing this. Of course not everyone nurtured in a negative environment commit these crimes, but I suspect there is a closer relationship to nurture rather than nature.

I would also disagree based on the OP study, that anyone can conclude that psych drugs had no negative impact(s).

Using the same logic. A large percentage of people dying from heart attacks are taking statin drugs therfore stating drugs cause heart attacks. Really flawed unscientific logic propagated by the media and people that feast on sound bites.

You could say a similar logic is in place by the over prescription of mind altering psych drugs.  I think the situation is far more complex, but this certainly could be a major factor.
