Hi guys, I will be flying on september to U.S.A . I got a problem with the address where the GC should arrive to. So, I followed the advise of a friend on creating a Myuscis account after the immigrant fee payment. I created the account and saw in the profile the mailing address is a old one but the person still living there so it's no problem. My question is regarding to another friend that told me I did wrong creating a Myuscis account because just people who is aleady in U.S.A could do that. Is that true? I didn't update anything and also the same website after paying the 220 fee tell you that if you paid it, you could create an account and update the mailing address to make sure everything arrives correctly. I would like to ask you if creating that account is a problem for me because I'm not in U.S.A and I'm first-time traveler. Thank you

I created my myUSCIS account when I was still in the Netherlands, no issues there!

No, it is not true.  Stop listening to that person for immigration advice.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

It’s not a problem but it’s also unnecessary. All you have to do is give the updated address to the CBP officer who processes you when you arrive at your port of entry, and they will update it in the system. In fact I suggest you do that anyway as address changes for green cards online before or around arrival don’t always seem to work.
