USCIS didn't update address from online AR-11

I am a green card holder and moved to a new home within the US in May. Within days of moving I submitted the AR-11 online and received an email that the request to update the address was accepted. My husband mailed his I-865 and got a confirmation letter by mail that it was accepted. I was bothered that I never received a final confirmation that my address was updated, so today I phoned USCIS and found out that indeed, they had my old address on file and no apparent record of my new address. The agent on the line couldn't give me any answers about why it wasn't updated. I am going to try mailing the AR-11 now, but I'm extremely anxious about this given that it has now been 2 months since my move. Is this going to cause me problems when I apply for citizenship? I did everything right but for some reason my online AR-11 didn't stick. Any tips or comfort would be extremely welcome. I'm an anxious person and this type of thing freaks me out.

It seems fairly "rare" that an address change actually goes through with USCIS. So you're not alone, millions of others have had the same issues, me included. It has been recommended by other from members to send the form in the mail instead of changing the address online.

You don't have a pending petition/application right now I assume, so  the address change issues won't affect anything. If USCIS believes you haven't lived in the district you are filing your N-400 from for at least 3 months before filing, then you just show them proof such as utility bills, lease etc.

Thank you so much, this makes me feel better. I'm going to mail the paper AR-11 shortly, with tracking. I hope this one sticks. I also have the email they sent me after I submitted the form online, so if this does come up when I try to naturalize I can show that I did actually file it well within the 10 days.

If this is a common issue, I wonder how many people unknowingly still have their old addresses on file with USCIS, assuming it's been updated because they filed the AR-11 online. I only called to be extra cautious and was expecting to hear they had my new address. It was such a shock.

I have never heard of anyone receiving a hard copy confirmation after making an online address change.... only email confirmations.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I wasn't sure what sort of email confirmation I should expect. Moments after submitting my AR-11 online, I received an email from them saying "Address change request successfully submitted: Updated Address To:" followed by my new address - but you'll note that it only says my request was successfully submitted, not that my address change was successfully made. And I never received any other communication about it, which is the reason I phoned to double check out of an abundance of caution (which turned out to be warranted).

If you have no pending petition, just change it with your next petition.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I updated my address both online and via mail. My letter went to my old address. I changed my address again during my Naturalization interview. The oath letter went to the old address again! That's why I suggest having a PO box for mailings if you're planning to move during an ongoing application. Still do your duty of updating the address when you move but you won't have to worry about your mail getting lost as your PO box stays the same.

I had delayed sending in my last application for a day or two so I could open a PO box for this very reason. It worked out for me.

Now that bothers me, we moved and  I updated immediately on line and sent the form via USPS.  Received the on line confirmation of filing on line, but never received anything by mail when we mailed in the form also.
