The Bear Stearns news wasn't on the wires till after the markets closed.

True; I keep hearing the Dow is due for a correction. Maybe this is what it needs.

Maybe. It's like you said, momentum - the herd runs it up and the herd will run it down. All that's needed is a reason to panic.

True, but it doesn't take much to move the Dow up or down since there are only 30 companies on it; it's a pretty small index. I pay more attention to the S&P 500.
