Interview today in Portland, OR

Just thought I'd share our interview experience from today.

We arrived at 10:40 for our 11:00 appointment, put our letter in the basket outside the waiting room, and sat down to wait. There were about 7 groups/individuals waiting. Almost promptly at 11:00, 3 people were called in. A short time later, another was called. We kept waiting (I forgot to bring something to read) and finally at about 11:20 a woman called our name. She apologized for keeping us waiting, she had not realized we had an 11:00 appointment! She said when she first looked at her schedule she thought she only had a 1:00 appointment. I wonder how long we would have waited if she hadn't realized!!!

Because of this mistake she was super unorganized and had barely looked through our file. So the whole time she was flipping though our file trying to look up the stuff she needed. We were better organized than she was!

She first asked us to swear in and then got into the questions. She first double checked she had documents such as both of our birth certificates in the file. She then asked us about when/how we met, when did we start dating, the marriage proposal, the wedding. She asked who attended, what we did afterwards, did we go on a honeymoon, did we have a reception. All these questions were directed at my wife, the beneficiary. She then briefly asked me a couple questions about the Affidavit of Support. She asked my wife her full name, birthdate, and adress. She asked for documentation on joint assets. I have to admit we were a little lite on this one. We do have a joint bank account and joint credit cards but our rental agreement is a handshake deal because we know the owner of our house and we have yet to purchase a car together and also are both waiting for health insurance to kick in from work. She did take what we gave her though. She also asked if we plan to have kids. We told her we're thinking about getting a dog first.

As an after thought she did take one page of photos we brought from our reception to put in our file.

I was amazed to see our entire file all together. I noticed that they even keep the envelopes we sent stuff in.

She took back Amy's EAD and AP and I94 as she won't need them now. She said they mail the I94 back to the border patrol with an update that GC has been issued.

We were approved on the spot. She said the name check had gone through successfully so she was able to stamp Amy's passport and said that the GC should arrive in the next 2 weeks or so.

All in all we were interviewed for about 20 minutes. It wasn't stressful for us. Seemed worse for the lady interviewing us since she was so unorganized.

Thats fantastic! We got our interview appointment date for August 21st, at the Portland office too! I hope that our experience is as smooth as yours was! Again, congrats!!!

Congrats!! Glad that it was so easy. Since there has been so much discussion recently on the boards here about the Tb skin test - Did your wife have her skin Tb test done? Did they ask about it? Any info on the subject would be helpful - thanks
