Hi all

My fiancé (US citizen) and I (UK citizen) plan to get married in the US at a city hall. Then I will return to the UK. Will the city hall require a certificate of no impediment please ?

Thank you.

The USA may well be the only country where foreign brides or grooms do not need some kind of certificate from their country.  This is because in the USA, States control marriage procedures.  No national certificate is available and no State can certify a person isn't also married in another state.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

I was actually shocked when I first learned that First Cousin Marriages are legal in sooo many US States. Thanks @pushbrk for the interesting bits
