This is insane. Why are they collecting such huge fees from people without making efforts to improve their processes and shorten the timelines???

Really? All visa processing stopped for a long time. Backlog is something they're still working on.

How do you propose they do that?  Every case must be scrutinized by human eyes.  Every applicant must be interviewed.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

So is it better to do a fiance visa at this point because...that's insane

That wouldn’t be any quicker.   It will take two years no matter which route you choose.

The pipeline of new applications never slowed.  However, processing was halted during the pandemic.  It will, likely, be years before pre-pandemic times resume.

Sorry I'm expressing my frustration. Some of you seem more upset at my question than you are about the uscis. Sorry if I came across as insensitive.  I hope things work out for everyone soon.

A court wedding?

u r thinking she will come here on tourist visa and marry here?

i don't think Nigeria does court weddings / i stand corrected if i am wrong

but u will need to marry in Nigeria and go thru the long process as we have all done

read the guides above to know the steps for visa and the documents and proofs needed // they are also on US embassy Lagos site

spend quality time with your spouse before and/or after marriage /  keep boarding passes for proofs of each visit

Okay let me play the devils advocate since you want to blame the pandemic on Immigration.

You say you visited 4 times already so why haven't you filed yet? You could have filed K1 long ago and been in the queue maybe even approved at USCIS? I always wonder why people blame immigration for their indecisiveness. Which is your Bobby Brown prerogative, but hardly Immigration fault if things go south. Things change on a dime in immigration and you never known.
What has the Department of State done with all that money they hired over 4000 folks to be assigned to varies embassies around the world. But guess what they need to be trained.

There is no fast track to getting a visa or green card if it was we all would have been doing it or advising others to do so.

No one is upset.    We have all had to wait, even pre-Covid.   It’s just part of the deal with immigration.

Why would we be mad at USCIS. In 2006 and before this use to be a 6 to 8 year process. Why would you be mad about our entire world changing and trying to get back to a new normal. Nothing is how it was pre March 2020. So why would you think t would be for Immigration. Yes they can do a heck of alot more to better things. Making things more efficient no doubt faster probably. But that's management and well hard to do twice the work with half the staff.
It's just unnerving to me t hear someone who has not even filed already complaining when one of my dear friends just got approved at Visa interview with her child today after waiting 4 years in Nigeria. We not mad we celebrate. Especially when it's an approval in Lagos. And I know Lagos for real.  It's pure joy.🥳

No one is upset with your question.  We are just explaining the cold, hard facts.  There are literally millions of people already waiting in line for US immigration benefits combined.

If u check out US sties ,   u can see at end of March 2022 there were 8,565,559 pending forms for immigration benefits

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/data/Quarterly_All_Forms_FY2022_Q2.pdf

so,  its not that the officers don't care ,  its a lot of work and a lot of petitions for immigration to contend with from everything from student visas to work visas to DV lottery visas to tourist to family family visas and all the AOS and ROC and naturalization

and they don't give special precedence to anyone / girl working for immigration herself is still waiting for spouse in Morocco to be approved 11 months from interview

I don't think you know anything about Nigeria, and I also don't think you read the title or first post
