Oh, the sadness

I feel so sad...our beautiful Morris Minor, George, is now on the block. Yes, we listed him on ebay and as of right now someone has bid the reserve so he is going! He was the first car I ever owned so I am so, so sad.

If anyone wants to have a look at the gorgeous George before he passes out of our lives, I have the same handle on ebay. He looks soooo handsome in the pics! I know, I know, he is paying the bulk of our shipping fees but can I just mourn here? He rocked as a great little car, and was so cheap to run, especially as he was taxfree and benefited from cheap parking rates as a resident since his motor is tiny. Oh, George, I hardly knew ye! :crying:

George is not coming because there are two other great British cars coming -- a 1971 Triumph Spitfire and a 1980 MGB GT LE (Last Edition -- one of the last 100, I think, must ask the boy) coming with us. Poor old Georgie couldn't justify the expense of shipping. I love him but I must look to the great American cars of our future -- the boy is a petrolhead and I'm sure there's some domestic fun coming soon!

George sold! Someone offered us the Buy It Now price after the reserve was met, so we had to pull the listing and do the transaction off line. Let me see what I have for Georgie:

In one of those weird twists, he was sold to a guy from Southampton -- which is where we bought him!

Awww, George is lovely. Is he at least going to a good home where his new owner will groom and feed him every day?

I sure hope so! He is being driven away on Wednesday evening and boy, will I have a George-shaped hole in my life. Even when his clutch died on the North Circular, 5 miles from home, and I had a life-passing-before-my-eyes moment, I still loved him. George even has a fan club of sorts amongst the small boys in our neighbourhood, who think he is very cool. Well, he's not that cool, a bit dorky really, just like his owner! :P

He looks so shiny, like a new penny, in those pics.

You may be able to get some of the "feel" of George with a 1960's Valiant (slant-6) or Falcon.

Is George a 948-cc or 1100-cc?

He's a 1098cc car who thinks he's a lot bigger! Bruce has his eye on an Oldsmobile Toronado from the mid- to late 60s, I'm sure the first of a string of old American cars to enter our lives. But hmmm...yes, I do like both the Valiant and the Falcon myself.
