Report of Marriage of A Filipino Abroad

Hello Filipino filers,

My Filipina wife and I (the US citizen) started with the K1 and are now going thru the I-485 AOS process.

We recently filed the "Report of Marriage of A Filipino Abroad" with the Philippine Consulate General of Los Angeles since our Marriage Certificate is from Las Vegas.

https://www.philippineconsulatela.org/consular-services-2/civil-reg1stry-2/report-of-marriage-of-a-filipino-abroad

We are hoping that once the Philippine Statistics Authority process our marriage and we can order our Philippine Certificate of Marriage, we can use that as further evidence for the AOS interview.

Has anyone with a Filipino/Filipina spouse ever completed the "Report of Marriage of A Filipino Abroad" process?

And is there any advantage to having Philippine Certificate of Marriage when we travel to the Philippines? like getting a visa for me? Or emergency health benefits? simplifying some paperwork? etc?

Thanks in advance for any response.

In our case we didn't even have our ROM completed for USCIS.  I'm pretty certain US authorities could mostly care less about the ROM.  If you have one, it cant hurt to submit it but don't worry if you don't.

Any kind of dealings with the Philippine government could conceivably encounter friction in the absence of a ROM so if you have one, it is preferable to bring it for any interactions with the Philippine government.   If she ever plans to use your name in the Philippines such as changing her name on her passport she will definitely need the ROM.  That said, some people cant or don't ever file one and get along.  But if you have one to show, it generally makes Philippine bureaucrats happy if you present it if they have any questions of marital state.

I agree with this ^^^ I don't think we ever included ROM for any process with USCIS. We DID include it recently for Joan's dual citizenship with the Philippine Embassy here, but I THINK the local DOH marriage certificate would have been fine. We filed ROC because we wanted to be recognized as married in the Philippines, not for any paperwork issues. But as @top_secret said, can't hurt in the Philippines!
