Many of us on this forum can attest to the difficulties of immigrating, but when doing so alone in order to join a partner or spouse can be very daunting. Many women are in long distance relationships after meeting their loved one on vacation, or by chance at an airport, or online, and once they make the decision to leave their country, family, friends, job, and culture behind to join him, it opens up a can of insecurities on its own. I met my husband online a few years ago, left my country, and moved to America. We have been married for six years and although the initial adjustment was really difficult, I wish I had some resources available to me at the time that would have helped me understand that many of the feelings and situations I was experiencing was normal.

I have a website for women who have been through this or are going through this process. It's called Hummingbird Hearts and gives some insight into life after the long distance relationship once you are living with your partner/spouse. I invite those who are going through this adjustment to pop in - I'd love your feedback and I'm sure you can share a lot of insight on the forum.

Best wishes to you all!

It's not so much the miles we have travelled as the journey we have taken.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
