Hello, we sent my wife documents in July 2022. The only thing we got was an extension of her provisional green card (48 months) but after that it has been a silence. I have updated our new address but other than that nothing has changed. Should I be worried? my wife is not applying for citizenship yet because we are in college and money is tight at the moment.

Thanks

Same situation here! At this point I'm going to apply for naturalization in June.

99% likely it's an automatic 48 month extension. Don't worry.

We are receiving a 2pg USCIS notice in today's mail...

Currently debating whether it's an announcement of our July filing eligibility or whether it's a 10yr green card approval notice...

They don't send an approval notices, so if you have been approved, you'll just receive the new card. Also, your case status would've updated online to say that the case was approved and also provide a tracking number for the shipment of the new card. If your case doesn't say approved, it's likely either one of the longer extension letters or an announcement of July filing eligibility.

Likely a 48 month extension letter if you don't have one yet. Especially if status didn't change online.

I'm not sure about that. A colleague of mine received approval notice recently, but still waiting for GC to be printed. YMMV.

Oh, interesting! You gotta love the inconsistencies! We got approved in mid-January and a notice came with the card, not separately. But again, the online status went through a couple different approval-type messages about "Case Approved" "Card sent (with tracking #)" etc. So I'd still think that if the status doesn't say anything of that nature it's probably not an approval notice?

This sounds like an extension letter. AFAIK USCIS doesn't update status when sending 48 month extension letter for existing pending cases.

It was, in fact, the 48mo extension.

  • 3 months later...

Still no movement on our case since we received the extension letter a few months ago. We did go ahead and submit the N400, so we are hoping that we will get the joint interview with the citizenship interview. Anyone else on here applied for the n400 yet?
