Document Translation - Different for London Embassy?

Hi, I need to translate my birth certificate and my forename name change document.

I've read on here (

) and online that I can just do it myself and have that certification thing on the bottom signed and dated.

I did that and even had a family member look it over and certify it for me.

However, now looking at the embassy website in London it states: (https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/required-documents/)

"Documents that are not in English must be presented at the visa interview together with a translation from an official translation service."

Does that mean that I can not use those translations and instead need an "official translation service"? Is it different for the Embassy in London?

If so, which translation service do you recommend?

Thank you!

i will follow the UK website.

normally the self translation and not the "official translation service" can be use when u apply within US not doing consular processing

thats my understanding because when i did AOS, i never had issue when the paralegal translate it for me

However, even after googling it seems self-certification of translation is allowed, so I am wondering why the UK embassy states that?

Does anyone have experience with self-translated documents at the embassy in London? I'd rather use my own translation as I know it's accurate and it's just a simple birth certificate?

Thank you.
