Worth looking for jobs already?

Hi everyone,

My I130 got finally approved (IR1 category) and I'm now on the NVC stage.

It looks like this means I could potentially move to the US end of this year / early next year?

Is it worth already looking / applying for jobs? Do companies give out offers like that?

My field is in engineering and I saw a lot of companies require green card photo submission during the process?

Or is it better to wait until I am physically in the US / about to move?

i wont shop around until u are about to fly to the states ( at least)

most of the companies in the states usually wont wait for months for the starting job.

That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure, thank you! :)

nothing wrong with looking online to see what is out there and available

see what they require for education and work experience

and keeping an eye on those job postings to see how fast they are getting filled

I would apply as soon as visa is approved as the I 551 stamp on your visa acts as green card

many companies now do the 1st interview online or by phone and can realistically do this by means such as Skype

The SS card may be weeks in coming so companies have to follow the SS guides reguarding  this issue

so,  don't let any HR person say u can't start a job until u have SS #

What if an employee doesn't have a Social Security number?

If a worker applied for but has not yet received a Social Security number, you should get the following information as complete as possible: The worker's full name, address, date of birth, place of birth, father's full name, mother's full maiden name, gender and the date he or she applied for a Social Security number.
Employers must report wages and file withholdings quarterly and it can be done

Electronic Filers: If the worker applied for a card but didn't receive the number in time for filing, enter all zeros in the field for the Social Security number.

Depends on the employer and the field of work.

Many online applications will reject applications where the applicant is not yet authorised to work in the US. Its hard to get past the first screening in these cases.
