Worth the visit

Thinking about attending my Colombian fiancés interview when it is scheduled. There is a 30 year age difference. That being said we have been together for about 17 months and I have been to Colombia 2 times and we vacationed 2 times in the DR. Has anyone attended the interview? I'm thinking with the age red flag it could be good or it could be bad for me to attend.

I don't think you can burge your way to the interview if not called. 

 

30 seems reasonable. I wouldn't fret much about it especially if there's a trend of it in precedent..Basically, if this embassy sees this age gap multiple times, then there shouldn't be a problem in your case.

My husband and I have the same age difference.  I went to his interview-I wasn’t sure if I was allowed but I was.  It was helpful for support and I was glad I did, but I don’t know if it’s crucial.  The age difference wasn’t brought up.  Though it’s a red flag, it just means that they may scrutinize other red flags more.  We had a straightforward case, so I guess that helped.  We never had issues with it.

There is a 30-year difference for us too. Not an issue in the Philippines (don't know about Colombia). I went to Joan's interview 10 years ago--not because of the age difference, but we just got lucky with the timing and I happened to be in the Philippines at the time. It was a great experience and one that we are both glad that I was there to share. It is not necessary, but yes, worth it if you can. As @bakphx1 said, you can be a support for your fiance as well as an extra set of ears to hear what the consul says. Go for it if you can.
