New Zealand Police Clearance - timeline?

Hi all.

 We have just submitted our I-130!

The next stages are far off but I'm just trying to get prepared.

I know we are asked for police certificates/clearance at the NVC stage. I lived in New Zealand for one year. They send police clearance for visa purposes directly to the government body/embassy instead of us acquiring it first.

 Has anyone done this previously and when in the process did you apply for the police clearance? Did you do it when you were notified of the petition reaching NVC or did you do it ahead of time in anticipation?

If I've got this completely wrong please let me know!

Any guidance is much appreciated.

I'm currently at the NVC stage (my documents should be getting reviewed this week) and have submitted the NZ police check provided directly to me.

So I'll let you know how I go with it.

For reference, the Australian government accepted this police clearance for my Australian VISA refresh last year, but the US may be different........

All the research I've done has said that wouldn't be accepted but I could be wrong. On the required document guidance on the USCIS homepage it gives details on a different process that sends clearance straight to the embassy: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/NewZealand.html

@rubym2020 just got an RFE from the NVC with regards to the NZ Police check "Please replace this with an acceptable police certificate from a correct issuing authority. Please use our Document Finder at https://nvc.state.gov/find for acceptable documents guidelines."

So I've done the following;

  1. Submit the Section 14 overseas form to the NZ police vetting service
  2. Submitted the following "documents" to the CEAC portal to replace the incorrect NZ Police check
    1. Covering letter explaining why I can't submit the NZ Police Vetting results (i.e. the NZ police will only send it to the US government)
    2. The completed Section 14 overseas form
    3. Evidence of submitting the form to the NZ police vetting service

So fingers crossed, they're happy with that.
