Hello,

I am filling in my travel outside the US for the past 5 years details for the N-400 application - but I no longer have the flight receipts etc. for trips from 4/5 years ago. I have the dates I returned to the US (from my passport stamps) for those old trips, but I'm only 90% sure of the dates I actually left the US. What would happen if you made a mistake and were off by a day or two on a trip for your N-400 application? Do you need to bring proof of the dates for all your trips outside the US (through flight receipts etc.) when you go for your interview etc?

Thank you

I wouldn't worry about it if your travel dates out of the USA is no where near compromising the physical presence requirement. Otherwise if are close to physical presence days then find a way to figure out actual days in and out.

Just FYI: I used yellow post-it notes and marked all the pages which showed my travel dates. The IO took my passport and went through the passport and compared them to my application. She was very happy not to have to search page by page. I also kept an excel log of my trips which she took from me but that's by the by now for you.

You might get lucky like I was and try the I-94 travel history

I was able to use this right up and until I passed my N-400 (even when I was a GC holder from 2017)

Thank you, that's really helpful, the dates don't compromise the physical presence requirement, so it should be okay using the info you suggested - thanks!

The IO will have a record of all your travel dates anyway . Looking for as accurate as you can get .. but will update etc at your interview

I think you should be ok, OP.

But, for anyone else reading this, I kept an Excel spreadsheet that I updated each time I left the country (which was alot in the first three years, as I was doing trips up to Canada for work).  Every time I travelled, when I returned home and put my passport away, I made it part of that routine to update the spreadsheet.  It became habit and it meant it was easy to list every trip when I got to the N-400 stage.

Just a suggestion for others.
