Which country to be married in? (US or China?)

Hello, my fiance is now in the US on a K1 visa from China. And it's become clear that I'll be returning to China for work in September or October, which means we won't adjust status for green card. However, I am wondering if there are any advantages to getting married in China instead of the US. In the future, I will probably be working in China for the next few years at least. We were hoping to get her a B2 visa to visit the US with me during summer. Please let me know any advice you have. Thank you!

You each signed statements of intent to marry inside the USA within 90 days of her entering the USA on a K-1.  At the port of entry she might have verbally confirmed the same with the officer who stamped her visa.
 

My advice is to do what you said you were going to do.

If not planning to do AOS, it doesn't matter where you marry.

Get married in the U.S. 

 

To get married in China, you have to go to the embassy or consulate to obtain an affidavit of marriageability and then get that translated....and then you can apply to get married. And when you finally decide to move back to the states, you are going to have to get that translated again and get a gong cheng chu for the immigrant visa. It creates a lot of hassle. If you are going to be in her native country  you will have a work visa? Or will you be applying for a family reunion visa? Either way, I think you can use your american marriage certificate.

The paperwork involved in China can be fairly cumbersome from my understanding. 

If you are planning to move back to China on a spousal visa it might be easier to move back after applying for said visa from the US as opposed to adjusting in China.

Not really, since you're in the US now, just get married here before you both have to go back over there.

The K1 is a single entry visa - if she leaves without applying for AOS, she will need a new visa before returning.

To apply for Adjustment of Status, you will need to first get married BEFORE leaving.
