Greetings,

My spouse's income is insufficient for the number of household size and wants to get a joint sponsor whose income is very sufficient.

Apart from my wife and the joint sponsor's most recent tax return transcripts is there any other proof of income or evidence of income they need to submit or just submit the tax return transcript for the most recent tax year?

Will they be required to submit pay stubs, W2s or Employment verification letter etc? Who is to submit this income proof (my wife or the joint sponsor?).

Thanks as I await your response.

Look at the checklist of required initial evidence. Both have to send the form and all required evidence.

Thanks for your response.

Yes, both have filled the form i-864 and my wife (sponsor) whose income is below the minimum poverty guildline for the number of household has her tax return transcript for the most recent tax year for submission and the joint Sponsor whose income is above & sufficient has also got her tax return transcript for the most recent tax year ready for submission with also her W-2.

My question is: Is these documents enough? As the joint sponsor has submitted evidence of Income/Proof of income with her W-2, does my wife whose income isn't sufficient also need to submit W-2, 1099?

Thanks

I don't see any evidence of current income.  Tax returns are about the past.  A copy of a recent pay stub would be evidence of current income.  I also don't see any evidence of the joint sponsor's US Citizenship or actual residence in the USA.  Stop asking if it's enough and follow the instructions.

Thanks for the wonderful response "pushbrk".

For more clarity, will my wife (Petitioner/Sponsor) also provide evidence of current income or just the joint sponsor?

Sorry I didn't mention, the joint sponsor has evidence of US citizenship and Residence in the USA.

Thanks

What do the instructions say your wife should provide?  There is no substitute for close attention to instructions.

Attached is the instruction on what she should provide but the instructions is confusing to me which is why I came for clarity in this noble forum.

As her income is below the poverty guildline and she isnt further proving income through assets or other means but using a joint sponsor. Now with this, the instruction there categorically says she should provide Tax return transcript of most recent tax year or alternatively a filed tax return of most recent tax year.

The instruction also says, in addition please Submit: Evidence of Income and Proof of assets you may choose to use, which my wife (sponsor) isn't using to further prove income. The Instructiom then advised that you may not meet the minimum requirements to overcome poverty guild lines, you may wish to find a joint sponsor or household member and submit their form I-864.

Its confusing, that's why I ask simply, since my wife is using a joint sponsor to meet the requirements and she has her recent tax return transcript, does she need to also submit evidence of current income or just the joint sponsor needs to provide that?

Thanks

Your wife also has to submit everything no matter how much she makes. She's the main sponsor even tho she needs help for sponsorship so she needs to send everything just as the joint sponsor.

"Everything" means everything noted in the actual I-864 instructions.  Petitioner does not submit "everything" the joint sponsor needs to submit.  This is why paying close attention to the actual I-864 instructions is so critical.

I mean the actual I-864 instructions.  I don't know what the above is or how you got it, but there are ACTUAL instructions to study and follow.

The instructions I sent you can be found on the U.S Department of State Website, in  Step 5 (Financial Documents) of "Immigrant Visa Process". Inside  "what Financial Evidence do I need to submit" there is questionnaire there that Will help determine what financial evidence you need to submit between sponsor and joint sponsor.

Go here  https://www.uscis.gov/i-864  and click on instructions for...  It's the same place you downloaded the form itself.  You needed to download and become an A-Student of the instructions as well.
