Highland Park is an affluent, low crime suburb of Chicago. 22 year old suspect in custody. Allegedly fired high power rifle from a roof top. I’m guessing this will be front and center in MSM. Although I haven’t read what weapon was used, if it was an “assault rifle” it will add to the drama. I’m guessing that Chicago has already had 50 + people shot this weekend not including this incident. Of course no one cares about the dozens shot on a weekly basis and there is no call to stop the violence.

I’m not belittling the incident or making light of the victims. The hypocrisy of the MSM and politicians amazes me. Ditto for BLM. They don’t seem to care that a dozen or so are killed every weekend and 30 or 40 wounded. The weapons used aren’t even mentioned.

Concerning Social Media of 'Person of Interest' in Highland Park Mass Shooting
By Nick Arama | Jul 04, 2022 8:30 PM ET

The police have identified Robert E. Crimo III (who also goes by "Bobby") as the "person of interest" in the mass shooting at the July 4th parade in Highland Park, Illinois.  They just took him into custody.  [...]

While 98% of the American public is prohibited from owning real assault weapons, one could argue that ANY weapon used to harm someone (a gun, knife, baseball bat, fork, spork, etc.) is being used to assualt.

Chicago is it's own little microcosm of gun crime.  Oddly, it doesn't even fall in the top 10 cities for crime.

On the radio the said the gun was illegal for him to have

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Why was it illegal?  I haven't seen where they even mention what type of rifle, except "high-powered rifle".

Quote

The shooter used “a high-powered rifle” that has been recovered, said Covelli, who said the gunman fired from a rooftop. “He was very discreet and very difficult to see.”

If Crimo was so discreet and hard to see, how did they know it was him?  And why did it take 8 hours to capture him?

Ironically, the mayor said:

Quote

Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering “I don’t know where the gun came from, but I do know that it was legally obtained,” Rotering told the NBC News morning show, without elaborating.

Sounded like the type of gun had been banned locally, guess this was an hour ago on NPR

If by that they are referring to Highland Park being a gun-free zone, I get it.  But several news sites are claiming it was bought legally.  (Thought they are likely just parroting one another at this point)

I haven't read anything about any of the weapons he owned as being banned. He purchased them all legally, despite having multiple police calls to his home, having nearly 20 knives/swords removed from his home after threatening to kill people, making various threats, history of mental illness, and was observed 'casing' synagogues. The police were all aware of him. None of this prevented his gun purchases.

Do you have a link to that?  Every search I have done says it was a legally purchased weapon.  But no details as to what the gun is yet.

I found this on NPR:
https://www.npr.org/2022/07/05/1109793161/highland-park-chicago-july-4-shooting-latest

Crimo used a "high-powered" rifle, which Covelli described as similar to an AR-15, to fire on paradegoers from the roof of a nearby business. He was taken into custody on Monday night after an hours-long manhunt.

Police discovered a second rifle inside the car, according to Covelli. He added that Crimo is believed to have purchased both firearms legally in separate locations in the Chicagoland region. Investigators also recovered other firearms from his residence in nearby Highwood, though Covelli did not specify how many.

Define "assault rifle".  I guarantee you it's NOT the actual definition of assault rifle.

But at any rate, here's what I learned today:

Laura Ingraham just confirmed it on her show. One call that brought police to the shooter's home was because he was threatening suicide, the other time a family member claimed this wacko threatened to kill everyone in his family. Police confiscated 16 knives from him, plus a sword (!). But no arrest was made. Threatening to kill people is a crime, last I checked.

Look for the officials in Highland Park and Illinois to keep pushing the "We must ban guns!” agenda, in an attempt to distract from their own incompetence. No way this nut should have allowed to buy a gun. If the existing laws had been followed, this wouldn’t have happened.
