It took me all of three seconds to google and confirm that Spoogy has contacted the proper department responsible for keeping those records. Especially old ones. He is asking if anyone has specific information if that doesn't work. As you have found Spoogy VJ can be less than welcoming sometimes. Were you married a second time? If it were me I would try to get a statement from the Superior Court of New Jersey Records Center that the records don't exist and then provide divorce decrees that you have for subsequent marriages. I'm not saying it will be acceptable but it may be all that you can do.

Finally done...

After a quick google search I come up with this link, explains a lot. By the way, you dobt need the Decree, you need the certificate.

Divorce Records (njcourts.gov)

What will work:

1. Submit a written request for a certified copy of divorce ( Ck court website, usually can be done online). They will send a letter stating they have no records. Usually very fast , matter of weeks.
You can file the I-130 with copy of your request and court letter.
2. File a request with Vital Records

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/w2w/new_jersey.htm

***link as provided by @Jeanne Adil ..but they indicated it may take a six month turnaround, so just in time for you to respond to an RFE ( if one is issued down the road). .

Guaranteed success. Good luck and keep posting

I was already told I need it and clearly I was asking how to get it because the superior court says they don't have records so far back. If you cant answer my question please scroll past because you sound like you're being rude and i'm just asking for assistance

it is against the Terms and conditions of VJ to tell us how to answer or not answer and jorgedig gave u valuable info u need to know "that all divorces have to be disclosed with legal court documents -no matter how long ago they were done

if your ex is still alive,   ask that ex spouse if they have a copy which could be copied and certified

Whoa.  A certified copy is a copy of an actual record, and issued as a certified copy by the government agency that holds the original.  You cannot have an existing copy "certified".  However, chances are if the EX has a copy, it's a certified copy.  All that is needed is a photocopy of a certified copy.

I contacted the court I got divorced and they advised they don't have records so far. How can I get this if I need it?

Is it possible to contact your ex spouse and ask them if they would have a copy of your divorce that they would graciously consider loaning you?
