My wife is in Sri Lanka and the economy there is really bad. There is no petrol, electricity is cut for atleast 3+ hours a day, limited transportation. Everything there has tripled in price. To get fuel, we have to stay in the queues 24/7 for days and it is rationed.

I have 2 questions:

1) Once NVC stage is approved, will there be delays in the consular interview due to electricity cuts and petrol rationing?

2) Can we expedite based on the economy conditions?

Everyone interviewing out of Sri Lanka is living in a similar condition so I don't think expedite is a possibility.

Delays might happen at the consulate. If that happens you will have to unfortunately wait your turn until you are called to interview... Everyone is living under the same conditions so you'd need a compelling reason to qualify for expedite.

Probably not.  I take it since you are posting in a spouse visa forum, your parents are not the intending immigrants.  Why would you think your parents' health issues would justify expediting your spouse's visa case?

Yes, spouse is the intending immigrants. The reason my parents are not in good health and they are not able to cope with their daily routines. In our culture, the son would normally take care of his parents.

Taking care of elderly parents in the US is not a reason to expedite.  Nor is an economic downturn.  The US is currently in a recession itself.

Yeah, if you can't explain any better reason than that, you would be wasting your time.  You still haven't even indicated why expediting your wife's case is necessary, or how your parents' health and your wife's immigration process are connected in any way.  I get that you WANT, but what is the justification for USCIS to give you what you want?

Free to try but I would not expect to be succesful.

Weirder cases have been approved.
