Can I apply for citizenship?

Hello everyone,

I received my conditional green card on September 13, 2017.

I applied for I-751 on July 19, 2019 and N400 on April 1, 2020. I have been on combo interview July 28, 2020. Still there is not any update.

My relationship is getting worse because economic problems. We might apply for divorce.

My question is, can I apply for citizenship after September 13, 2022 ( 5 years rule) if we divorced?

I forgot something. During the combo interview, I called first for N400 and I answered all questions. They said, when you pass the removal condition, today or anytime later, you wouldn't come here for N400 again. You will be citizen.. Then, about 30 min later, my wife and I called for I-751.

Thank you for any response.

If the “residence since” on your green card is September 13, 2017, then the earliest you could apply   for N-400 is June 15, 2020

Yes.

Sorry, N400 application date was October 2, 2020.

If we divorce, I think I must apply for waiver for I-751? I am not sure.

So, even I apply for citizenship after September 13,2022, do I need to wait for I751 (waiver)?

I am a bit confused.

You must amend  your I-751 to a divorce waiver.

You will not be granted citizenship until your I-751 has been approved.
