As the title states, when can we travel outside the US after entering on an IR1?

My husband and I finally have our embassy interview date in August. We would like to plan an international trip to visit family in the fall.

Assuming we are approved in August and he can enter the US the same month, how long does he have to reside in the US before going on an international trip?

Thank you for your help!

He must stay in the USA until his flight to another country takes off. 😉  The entry stamp next to the visa serves a temporary green card for a year.  He will be free to travel anytime he wants or needs to, but must maintain his actual primary residence in the USA.  Being gone for more than six months CAN BE problematic.  No worries about international business or pleasure travel though.

Wow, that's amazing. Thank you so much!

Makes it much easier since he will not have to bring the embassy packet with him when he travels.
