The case status still says 'not assigned to an agent' BUT they have transferred our case to a different office, which I just saw the notice for today!  Hopefully it will be an office that can process it quicker. It doesn't say which office but we are supposedly getting a notice in the mail with those details and some instructions?!

Something the interviewer said led indicated to us that being British meant a shorter time to citizenship eligibility.  But maybe it was just the visa he came on and our case being eligible.  From what he said I just assumed it applied to 'friendly' countries with whom the US has ally and trade agreements and such.

Nope, citizenship has nothing to do with the LPR's home country. However, LPRs that are married to US citizens are eligible for citizenship after 3 years instead of 5 years as long as they remain married to the same US citizen throughout that time and meet all other requirements.

Hi!

Those of you who got an RFE on your I-751, when did you hear back from USCIS after sending in your extra evidence? It looks like it can be anywhere from 60 to 90 days but read some stories where people had their green cards approved only after a couple weeks.

They received my response to the RFE on 2/5/2020. I got an interview notice sometime in February 2021. Had the interview in April 2021. Finally got approved for the 10 year green card on 12/08/2022, so more than a 2 year wait for me from the RFE receipt date, 4 year wait from when I initially filed my I-751 with divorce waiver.

I-751 timeline:

  • 12/04/2018: Mailed I-751 with divorce waiver
  • 12/19/2018: Received by USCIS
  • 5/02/2019: Biometrics appointment
  • 5/03/2019: Case updated to show Fingerprints were taken and applied to my case
  • 1/28/2020: Received an RFE
  • 2/05/2020: Response To Request For Evidence Was Received by USCIS
  • 8/12/2020: Case received at my local office
  • 9/16/2020: Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview
  • 2/24/2021: Case scheduled for an interview
  • 4/06/2021: Interview done
  • 4/13/2022: Surprise Interview done at  my house
  • 12/08/2022: I-751 with divorce waiver APPROVED!
  • 12/21/2022: 10 yr Green Card Received.

N-400 timeline:

  • 01/26/2022: Applied online and received by USCIS, Informed of Biometrics reuse
  • 06/17/2022: Interview scheduled
  • 08/04/2022: Interview done. Passed English and Civics test but no decision could be made due to my pending I-751
  • 06/08/2023: Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed
  • 06/22/2023: Oath Ceremony - FINALLY A US CITIZEN!
