I really hope someone went through a similar situation to mines. So I filed for my daughter 6 years ago (she 8 now)to come to the states. The consulate requested on many occasions that I come for an interview for the approval of your immigrant visa but not my daughter thought just me. They gave me an email to set up a date with FPU for the interview, is it me or that’s usual.

So why don’t you go for an interview? You’ve been dragging this out for six years? Obviously something surfaced about the petitioner (you) and they have questions for you.

At the request of their first  interview my green card was not approved so I wasn’t going to leave with out a green card. Also it was my husband that filed for us . I explained to them that I couldn’t afford a trip to the consulate as I also have my step kids to look after. They just won’t expenditure  that interview. Until I notice FPU that wants the interview. Would you still go ?

If I wanted my kid to be with me, of course yes I’d go.  JetBlue is currently advertising lowest fare $338 round trip JFK to Aruba btw.

(Sorry, I don’t understand how you can’t make a plan for someone to help for a few days for your step kids so you can do this interview, and in consequence rather spend years apart from your own kid. I wouldn’t have made that comment ordinarily, but you did ask for a subjective answer.)

Susie I appreciate your comment and I understand where your coming from and of course I want my child with me. But am not the petitioner my husband is there is no need to want to questioned me ( my daughter and her dad went twice to see the officer. This interview they want with me  it’s not a normal interview and I ask what’s the purpose they really not saying.

Well there’s only one way to find that out, right ? You said they have asked you multiple times to go, so clearly they want to see you. Go.

Why are you worried about going to the consular section, OP? I don't know why, but I get a hunch you know there is something that was uncovered and know what it is. And it's bad enough you think your immigration status may be impacted if you go. But, then  again, I could be wrong.

If you don't have anything to hide, then why worry so much to the point of postponing this for 6 years!? All I know is, and I'm sure others will concur, if it were my child I would have found whatever means possible to go and get them. Most parents would do whatever it takes to get their child to be by their side, especially during these formative years. As others have said, Go to the interview!
