IR-1: interview to visa: waiting for consul decision

Jenny had her interview on Monday. The officer kept her passport and said the "consul would consider and send my documents to me." This seems a little unusual.

We asked that her visa be sent to a pickup location.

CGI Federal shows that the passport is still with the consulate (Frankfurt for Ukrainian applicant)

There is no change to the CEAC site.

 

What type of notification should we expect of the consul's decision.

Would need more details, was anything said in the interview or mentioned as being needed? Without context, it's hard to say.

 

In general though you'd not be told yes for sure on the spot, you're told you'll be "recommended" to receive a visa, and then it's processed over the coming days to weeks.

Reading through many Ukrainian interview reviews, they are almost invariably told on the spot. Few decisions are deferred. I am not questioning the consular officer's decision to kick the decision "upstairs". My question is once the consul makes a decision, how will it be communicated to Jenny. Email, CEACS, CGIFEDERAL or some other mechanism? This is probably standard stuff.
