I had my interview on October 29, 2021. I’ve received 221G after interview. To date, my case is still under administrative processing. It had many few updates, -the last one in this month. My case is stagnant and I was wondering if this has happened to others. Any recommendations please. My wife and I are separated and financially drained by the process. We are about to lose our home in the states due to financial problems and travel cost are too much to bear. How could the greatest country in the world have such a poor 221G administrative processing? It’s about five years since we started the immigration process. I understand the COVID problems but 221G needs overhaul.

What was the 221G for? what did they ask for? did you submit the requested evidence right away? how long after the interview did you submit the requested evidence?

The forum needs more info to try to provide some advise

the process is not easy on anyone -not even when all goes smoothly thru

and yes, it has happened to others when they failed to bring original documents to interview

and also,  in  Canada but usually when the intending immigrant was born in another country

please fill out a timeline

and its not just covid issues

things changed for us all after 9/11 and the other scares

look at all we go thru now in airport security

I didn’t have original divorce letter. I had submitted all the documents required late December, 2021. It’s really hard on our family  emotionally and financially.

Montreal is known to take a long time to approve visa when documents are missing at the time of the interview. Your wait of 6 months after submission of documents is generally on the upper end of this timeline, so perhaps your approval is around the corner.

It certainly is unfair that they make you wait so long. Sorry this has been so hard on you and your family....

Also sometimes in these cases, reaching out to the congressperson of the petitioner's state can help, especially if the congressperson is democrat.

Thanks for your encouraging words. We’ve reached out to our senator and they’ve been very helpful to us and we did receive their utmost assistance.

What action did your local congressperson do? I am in similar situation as you (interview in April). Representatives from my local congresswoman’s office are friendly and have reached out to the appropriate departments to follow-up. Unfortunately no updates on my status as of yet. Anything for you?
