NVC process question (merged threads)

Hello everyone. I am still waiting on petition approval and hoping it will come within the next month or two because I’ve already been waiting 9.5 months at CAC. But just had a question about the NVC stage. I have a joint sponsor for my affidavit and they make more than enough so I’m not worried about that. Just wanted to ask along with the joint sponsor, and my husband does not have a criminal record, should the case move pretty smoothly? What else will the NVC stage need?

At NVC you
1. Pay fees
2. Complete DS-260
3. Upload Financials and Beneficiaries documents

Then you wait the about 10 to 12 weeks for review. Once all is accepted you are DQ'd (Documentarily Qualified) and put in your countries interview queue. Depending on backlog that could be awhile.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hello everyone! If you submit all of your required documents ( including your joint sponsors documents) and all is well and you know your joint sponsor is a qualifying sponsor should the NVC process go smooth? If you receive the notice saying you need to add a joint sponsor even after you already have submitted one and they are qualified, do you just take all your documents with you to the interview and show the CO? Will they still schedule you for the interview? Im not at this stage yet but am curious and would like to have some idea

NVC may proceed in two ways. It will let you know what to do.

1. Schedules the interview with satisfactory but not sufficient i864 evidences but will tell the applicant to bring required evidences to the interview.

2. Doesn't schedule interview until required documents are provided.

What you feel qualified may be not qualified based on documents provided.

Okay that makes sense. So as long as the required documents are submitted then there should be nothing to worry about pretty much

That isn't what @arken said.  All required documents must be submitted AND NVC must approve them before they will place your case in the queue for your consulate.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
