Green Card Approved: When Will I Get My Social Security Card?

My green card was approved on June 24 and my SSN was created the same day. However, I still have not received the SS card in the mail and I urgently need it. I called SS and they said they cannot share the number over the phone. Any other suggestions from the group or do I just have to wait for it to come in the mail (hopefully this week but who knows)?

Typo, it was approved on May 24th.

you can make an appointment at SS office and do an  inquiry

they can give u the number in person when u show proper ID

if the worker says he/she can't,  ask for a supervisor

Nothing with the Social Security Administration happens "urgently."

yep,,  making this announcement on USCIS site a joke

https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/news-releases/uscis-expands-partnership-with-social-security-administration

“This expansion of our partnership with the Social Security Administration illustrates our commitment to operating our nation’s immigration system more efficiently to save applicants time,” said USCIS Director Ur M. Jaddou. “Eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy and optimizing collaboration across public-serving agencies is a key priority for this agency and the Biden-Harris administration.”

After approving Form I-485,in most cases USCIS will electronically transmit the data to the Social Security Administration. Upon receiving the data, the Social Security Administration will automatically assign an original SSN or issue a replacement card, as appropriate. This partnership with the Social Security Administration will not increase the filing fee for Form I-485.

Hi! You said your SSN was created the same day. Did someone confirm that for you or are you thinking because you checked the box requesting the SSN on the I-130 that they did it? My husband arrived in the U.S. January 19, 2022 and we waited a month for his SS card and it never arrived. We started searching visa groups on Facebook and learned that some people are getting the SS card within a week of arriving, some within a month, some not at all. We called SS office and made an appointment and he took his passport with the temporary visa stamped inside (and I think birth certificate and marriage license…) to SS office. He got the number at the appointment and the card arrived about a week later. If you’re in the same situation just assuming it’s coming, don’t wait anymore and go ahead and call SS and make an appointment. Best to you.

This is very useful info, so thank you! I called my local Social Security office and they said my SSN was created on May 24 (my Green Card was approved the next day) and that it should arrive in the mail within two weeks. It's now been three weeks. I just might go ahead and make an appointment like your husband did!
