Hey guys,

2 weeks ago I applied for a US passport(expedited service and 1-2 days delivery)at the USPS office. At the time, I did not need a passport for travel or anything, so I did not put a travel date on the application. The passport status shows in process at the moment.

Just two days ago, I found a program in Europe that I'm interested in and want to apply to. I need a passport to be able to apply for this program though. And the application is closing soon, Idk if I can get my passport on time to be able to apply.

So Idk what I should do in this case because I'm not traveling within 3 days, and plus it's not a life or death situation. And everything needed for passport application has been received by them on 28th last month.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks so much for your help. Appreciate it.

^I assume you already found this. As you mentioned, if it's not urgent enough, it seems unlikely that they'll move faster (although it can't hurt to call and explain and see what they can do).

Have you tried reaching out to the program and explaining your situation? They may have just asked for passports as a universal/translated identification, and may be willing to use something like a state ID as a placeholder identification in the meantime 🤷‍♂️. Unless they're sending out visa paperwork imminently and need a passport photocopy or something like that, then maybe they don't need a passport specifically until you get in and need to start applying for a visa.

yes I found this web page. Idk if they would take ID since I'm not from European countries. Will reach out to their admission and see if it's ok to use ID instead. And will also call and see if i can get the passport faster.

Thanks so much for your help

I thought about that, but I changed my name, and in my home country, you are not a citizen anymore once you became a citizen in another country.

If no mistakes in the application, you'll likely get the passport within next week or two. Hopefully you can still enroll within next two weeks.

I hope so, the status shows in process still.  Thanks.

My child's passport got delivered while it was still showing "in process". I guess they aren't good at updating status on time.
