Paying for the I-485

Hi, I'm becoming increasingly frustrated at being unable to find information on some simple questions. 

Can I pay for an I-485 with a cashier's cheque or not? The video on USCIS YouTube page says I can. The website however asks me to check news at this link: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-fees/uscis-updates-fee-payment-system-used-in-field-offices and it appears from this that I cannot? I am told I can pay by debit card but I don't see any information on how I would do this either.

If I am to use cashier's cheque, what goes in the memo? I read the information and it says to include an "A-number or other other applicable identification." Such as? I don't have an A-number.

You can as far as i know, or use money order.  Put ur full name and DOB i guess if you dont have A number + i-485

With debit card it would be same form as credit card along with your petition/  that's how i did it

Did you check the official USCIS page for I-485?  https://www.uscis.gov/i-485

 

The page says explicitly -- "You may pay the fee with a money order, personal check, or cashier’s check. When filing at a USCIS lockbox facility, you may also pay by credit card using Form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transactions. If you pay by check, you must make your check payable to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security."
