Hi Everyone,

I have my Form N-400 pending for some time now. While I do not expect any movement any time sooner, I have another question.

Does anyone know of any USCIS Policy regulating processing times? I understand there is nothing as far as the maximum time, but is there anything that establishes a minimum bare time limit or a standard?

Processing time will vary based on USCIS field office.

There is no standard. Lets say all these uscis and other offices didn't have any cases for the time being and they got your case filed online today. You would get the receipt notice today, biometrics appointment tomorrow. Biometrics done on the 3rd day. Interview scheduled on the 5th day and if passed, oath the next hour. You would get your citizenship in 5 days of filing N400 online.

Are you saying they had little or no applications to process in the past when cases are approved within weeks? Well, wether they have more applications to process or not, with the way things are changing, it can’t be processed in weeks except for those who are lucky to be approved in 3 , 4 months.

This is what I meant. Since there is nothing in regulations on timeframe, one can argue that USCIS should not unnecessarily prolong the processing of their application. USCIS projects a reasonable timeframe as 180 days but it takes well over that. I could argue that and several courts have held that it is the responsibility of USCIS to implement and procure resources to process an application within that reasonable time. In my believe the term "reasonable " begs for further inquiery.

Hopefully the applicants will see some movement. USCIS is a mess.

My husband was waiting from 1/2021 until 5/2022, 17 months??? He filled from Georgia and the interview took place in Alabama!

Thanks goodness he’s passed and taken the oath on the same day! All I can say is ‘try to be patient’ which I didn’t have

I have been waiting since after my naturalization interview. Till date I haven’t heard anything and my case status remain the same as interviewed scheduled. Not sure why the long silence and delay but I hope things get back to normal and applications processed in a way it should be processed.

Mine took 8 months. I just did my interview earlier at 12:40pm in the SF office and was told I could take my oath-taking at 2 pm today. However, only 60 people were allowed at the oath taking so I was rescheduled to come back on Thursday this week for it. Excited!
