Current Immigration Status & Possible GC stamp

I had my AoS interview on 5/25 and received an approval notice in my online USCIS account dated 5/28. Since then, the status has not changed from approved, however a service representative online has confirmed that the approval notice has been mailed out (although USPS informed delivery shows it won't arrive today). I have two questions, if anybody has any insight:

1) What is my current legal status? Am I on the same status as a K-1 awaiting AoS adjudication (I think the wording is something like permitted stay by DHS..), or am I now a conditional LPR (albeit with no real proof)?

2) Since my physical GC doesn't seem to be immediately forthcoming, would I be eligible for a GC stamp/I-551? Ideally I'd like to travel overseas towards the end of next week but of course am not prepared to do so without either the physical card or a GC stamp.

Thanks!

1.  With I-485 approval, your status is now LPR.  Congratulations!

2.  Unless you need to travel due to an emergency, I suggest delaying until after getting your actual GC.  If you do have an emergency, you may try to get an InfoPass appointment for an I-551 stamp, but set your expectations low that you can get one within 2 weeks.

Thanks a lot for the info! Much appreciated. The travelling is certainly not an emergency, but it is more than just arbitrary dates - there just happens to be some events going on back home (weddings etc) that I'd like to go to, but if I can't, people will understand. Perhaps I'll look into InfoPass if I still hear nothing more in a couple days, but I suspect you are right that getting an appointment on short notice is probably pretty unlikely.
