Hi there,

Recently sent in all my documentation for the renewal of my B1/B2 Visa (Toronto Consulate). The fact that I am renewing, and was directed to mail in all of my documents (including my passport) leads me to believe that I am exempt from another interview. Has anyone else here recently gone through this renewal process in Toronto or somewhere else in Ontario? Just trying to figure out a rough timeline for getting my Visa/passport back so that I can plan travel.

I'm really hoping that I don't have to go for an interview because the current wait time to book one in Toronto is 400+ days. Any insight from someone in a similar situation would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I am Permanent Resident living in Ontario. Not a Canadian Citizen.

That's important info

would u not have to renew the B1/B2 at your country's Canadian embassy?

Not at my country's Canadian Embassy.

I do have the option to renew at the US Embassy in my home country - but I also have the option to renew at the Toronto Consulate (that's where I got the original Visa). The fact that I am renewing at the same location is one of the reasons why I am exempt from an interview. I am sure that I have gone through the correct process - just really looking for people who may have done the same thing in Toronto/Ontario so that I can get an idea of my wait/processing time.

Pretty sure you qualify for an interview waiver, however because most Canadian residents are Canadians and don’t require a B not sure how much luck you’ll find here getting someone who’s done it recently. In general B visa renewals shouldn’t take more than a week or two, but always best not to plan travel (especially non refundable air tickets) until you actually have a visa in hand. You haven’t mentioned your origin country, but sometimes extra checks are required that can delay vs normal processing times too.
