Hello, i am looking at the instructions for the embassy and i have registered my appt for the actual interview but there is no way to schedule the biometrics appt. My friend who also did this in his embassy in another country had to do bio and interview on separate days.

Is there a hidden step im missing or do some embassies not need to do this?

Consulates have different procedures for visa interview appointments.  At the US consulate in my home country, for example, there is no such thing as separate biometrics appointment from the visa interview.  Biometrics are taken right before the actual interview with the consul officer.  Follow the instructions from your interviewing consulate.  You might be misled if you try to follow the procedure at another consulate.
