Hello!

Hope you all are doing well and that I'm in the right section here. My parents recently filed the I-130 form for me (unmarried son, over 21 years old / F2B). Right now I'm living in Germany but I want to leave it in the end of the year and live as a perpetual traveler / digital nomad until I'm allowed to enter the US as a permanent resident. This means I won't stay longer than 180 days/year in the same country.

Unfortunately my family and I are running into a problem. As we understand we have to immediately notify the USCIS when I as beneficiary relocate somewhere else. Since I will fully deregister myself from Germany and don't register somewhere else officially (like a normal relocation), we don't know what we should tell the USCIS to prevent the application getting cancelled. I won't obtain any special visas and travel only via normal tourist visa if that's important to know.

I already thought about asking my sister here in Germany if she would be willing to let me user her address for this purpose but she declined. Also my parents and I are wondering if I can just tell the USCIS that I won't have a permanent address anymore but my parents (petitioners) address in Florida as contact address? Which consulate would be responsible for my case when I officially deregister from my home country? Does anyone know how I can handle this correctly?

I'd be absolutely happy if someone can help me out since this topic gives me nightmares and absolute headache for weeks now.

Thank you very much in advance!

Filing I-485 is not an option for those currently outside the US.  Also, if your parents only recently (like this year) filed the I-130 petition for you, it would take around 7 years before you can be eligible to immigrate to the US.  Until then, you may live anywhere outside the US where you can be legal.  No need to update the I-130 petition or tell USCIS about your address changes.  Just list your address history in your DS-260 visa application form when your case gets to the NVC stage in 7 years or so.  You may request your case to be transferred to any country where you will have legal residency at that time.

The US has no interest in other countries requirements to officially register as a resident of somewhere. Not all countries do this. Put what seems most factual/accurate to you. Your sister’s address seems most logical to use but seeing as she won’t let you, is there a friend’s you can use?
PS you will have no need for i485 as you are doing consular processing.

Even if you deregister from Germany a criminal report will be needed for the NVC stage of your process if you have lived there over 1 year

 from the police authorities of all other countries, except the United States, where the applicant has resided for at least one year after attaining the age of sixteen;

If not a legal resident of any country u travel to,  u will interview in your home country (place of  birth)

u can travel as the notice of receipt is the only actual mail and it goes to your dad directly

after that immigration will contact him by a valid email for the next step and then the interview

Thanks! I'm not too familiar with the whole topic since my parents just filed the I-130.

Thats the thing with "legal". I will stay absolutely legal in any country I will visit after I will leave Germany BUT I will only have "inofficial" adresses like from hotels, airbnbs, short term rentals and so on - therefore my confusion. Or do you mean I should keep track of all those short term stays within an excel sheet? Thanks for taking the time.

Indeed, a pity but she won't let me. If I can use the address of friends I wouldn't have problems finding someone who I can trust for this concern. Thanks a lot for your time!

Thanks for your time! I'm aware of the criminal report but only knew that I need one for every country I've been for more than +6 months in one pace? I will read through your link. thanks.

So I probably won't receive any mails at all and the address is just kinda like an "emergency" address or "must have for documents"?

Short term addresses are ok.  Yes, keep track of them in a list.  In 7 years or so, you can decide which of those addresses to include in your DS-260 form.  No need to worry about your address listed in the I-130 petition itself.

The beneficiary will not receive any paper mail from USCIS or NVC.  Only emails at NVC stage.
