Different last name on the marriage certificate and on the passport

Basically, me (28F) and my wife (33F) screwed up. I am Italian and we didn't know that it's almost impossible to change your last name in Italy. We got married in California and on our marriage certificate I now have my wife's last name, but I can't change it accordingly on my passport. Has anyone filed for the CR-1 visa in a situation like this (where names on the marriage certificate and passport don't match)? Is it possible (that is, we don't necessarily have to change my name back first)? If so, what name am I going to have on the green card? Thank you very much.

If you can't change the passport name the GC name will be the same as the passport. You can change it later on either by paying to get a new card or wait until ROC and change it then.

My last name in my passport is different than my last name on my marriage certificate. In The Netherlands, your last name never ‘officially’ changes when you marry. My GC has my married name because we submitted the visa application with my married name.
