Putting assets on I-864 when I have a Joint Sponsor

Hi All,

I am sponsoring my wife and 2 step kids. We are currently at the NVC stage. I am unemployed, so my mother has agreed to be the joint sponsor, she has the income to be able to do so. I also have cash and stocks in the range of USD 100,000 (not including my retirement accounts). I had some questions regarding filling out the I-864.

- Should I also fill out the assets section on my own I-864 - will it make a positive impact? Or should I just leave it blank.

if my assets are to be included

- Since the value of stocks varies on a daily basis, should I fill out the value of the stocks on the day that I sign the form?

- Can I include my retirement accounts, which would add an additional USD 50,000?

- What kind of proof of assets do I need to include - will bank statement / brokerage statement / retirement acct statement suffice

Thanks!

If you are using a joint sponsor don't worry about the assets. They won't look at them.

You don't qualify.

You're using a joint sponsor who qualifies to support 3 dependents.

You'll be fine.

with stocks and bonds worth 100,000  and yearly retirement of 50,000,  u are required to file US tax returns

and if getting Social security ,  you would be paying taxes as stated below

If you file a federal tax return as an individual and your combined income is between $25,000 and $34,000, you have to pay income tax on up to 50% of your Social Security benefits. If your income is above $34,000, up to 85% of your Social Security benefits is subject to income tax.

so,  u would use the income as stated on your IRS transcripts

I'm sorry by retirement I meant my 401K accounts, not retirement income. I currently have 0 income.
