Greetings all! We are looking for some advice for my fiancé's k-1 interview which is coming up on June 5th. We have been together for almost 3 years and know each other so well. We just met up last week in Dubai to go through all the possible questions and everything we submitted. We also have our lawyer walking him through a practice interview. I guess our concern is what could be perceived as red flags in our case and they kinds of evidence / questions they may ask to over come our red flags. ( I am sure every case has some red flags). As the USC I am 20 years older than my fiancé (he is from Algeria, another red flag country) and I am divorced. We sent about 400 pages total of evidence to USCIS. We have gathered a lot of additional evidence for the embassy (photos of video chats, messages, our recent trip.. my fiancé has also become friends with my brothers and has independent conversations with them ... we have included that evidence as well as video chats with friends and his family. We also started a business together in the US and included all that paperwork) . Does anyone have any experience with the types of questions they may ask given our age difference? Also any recommendations on what additional evidence we should provide to the embassy to demonstrate a true relationship?

Thank you so much for your help!

Cheers

I would focus on evidencing all the time you have spent together

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I'm 15 years older than my husband and I've been divorced twice previously. He came here on a K-1 in June of last year. We had only spent 6 days together total but he was approved. There's definitely hope, don't be discouraged! Good luck.

I live in Texas and we were able to start a business together without him being in the states. He can not get paid but helps on the business. Once he is here we will need to confirm what he can do for the business until his adjustment of status. Its just a small online business.

How much actual face to face time have you had?

So, exactly how is that relevant to immigration?  Contriving evidence is not helpful....

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

So we have met up a total of 3 times. Once in Algeria for 2 weeks, once in Tunisia for 2 weeks and then most recently in Dubai for a week. We could not meet up more than that as for a year and a half due to COVID the boarders of Algeria were shut down.. no one in and no one out. This is why we provided the additional evidence as this was not our fault we could not meet up but we wanted to demonstrate that we maintained a strong relationship. In his culture this age difference is not so common. But things like communication with family is very important so we included this evidence as well.

I'm just surprised they didn't get angry with you for sending 400 pages of stuff. Imagine how the person who got that file on their desk felt.

Yep.  How many pages were actually read?  5 or 6, maybe.....any competent attorney would have advised the OP to cut down the needless fluff.

Seems like the last the case worker wants to do is dig through a huge pile to get to the relevant information. To be honest, if I was that case worker I would have rejected it until it was cut down to a manageable size.

So the original we were given an RFE so we had to supply a number of documents for the RFE so the makes the total number of pages to USCIS about 400. As for the business it it a legitimate business and he has helped me with the business side... NOT a means to earn a living but a project we have wanted to set up together. For our additional evidence we have not gone over board with evidence.
