For those getting started with NVC, I wanted to share a post on an adjacent thread:

You might want to read back a bit to see if this is appropriate for your case.  Hope this helps.

I sent an expedite request and received this automated reply:

Quote

Thank you for contacting the National Visa Center (NVC).
We have received your request for an expedite. NVC reviews emails in the order they are received and will reply as soon as possible. Duplicate inquiries slow our ability to respond to you in a timely manner. We ask that you refrain from submitting duplicate requests unless you do not hear back from us within 30 business days.
Please be sure any future requests include your case or receipt number in the subject line along with at least one of the following:
• Petitioner’s name and date of birth
• Beneficiary’s name and date of birth
• Invoice ID number
For medical emergencies, you may wish to include a scanned letter or statement from a physician (or medical facility) that includes the physician’s (or facility’s) contact information and declares that a life-or-death medical emergency exists.

Good luck.

What exactly were you trying to expedite?

Your fees have not even been posted yet was my understanding?

As much of the process as possible.

The fees are paid, and indicated on NVC as "IN PROCESS".  Based on my understanding of the recommendation, it was suitable to submit the request now.

The payment portal takes 3-5 days from payment made (triggers In Process) to “Completed”. This is similar to basic banking activity where deposits usually take about 3 business days to clear. The NVC has no control over the banking activity.

If you are going to expedite anything, it would be made once your entire application is completed and with their team for review. Even then, I would be mindful of what you deem as an expedited request as they’ll most likely ask you for a valid reason other than just it’s taking longer than you want it to.

If everyone is just submitting requests to expedite with no reason, it just creates unnecessary work for NVC. Most cases submitted to NVC in February were cleared about 17 days, they are moving pretty quickly.

I was mindful of what I deem to be a suitable request to expedite.  I am also not encouraging people to submit an unsuitable request.  I don't think I could be the ideal arbiter for their individual circumstances, and people should use their own discretion.

I am also aware of the thread tracking NVC processing times.  That notwithstanding, I shared this so others could avail of this information.  I think the reference is well-placed in this thread, at this time.

Thank you, that is very kind of you to say.  And likewise wishes on your case.

I also understand the transaction is processed through ACH, and fully anticipate the associated delay.

Good info.  I also experienced the website crashing while trying to pay.  After going for a walk, I tried again and it went through.  I am eager for the payment to be fully processed so we can proceed.

So are you saying if I go for a walk my case will be approved when I get back?  Asking for a friend 🤣

Sometimes CEAC is so efficient your payment will go through to your bank two or three times when it crashes while trying to pay.🙄
