I think I have read here that some get their AOS approved and recieve a GC without an interview... I'm just trying to find out if that really happens and how do they determine who must have an interview and who doesn't have to?

We went to the biometrics appt and the man there told my husband now all we have to do is wait and on the same day I got an email saying:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed.

On July 11, 2007, we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case is at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

But how do I know IF an interview is required? And it mentions processing times but there aren't any processing times for I-485 AOS at the National Benefits Center that I can find. Anyone have a link for this? I see it under either the Field Office or the Service Center locations only.

They will notify you by email, and with a letter with an interview appointment at your local office.

There is no rhyme or reason on how they decide to approve with or without interview, the petition goes to Missouri, and they either send it to California, or to your local office, California can either decide to approve, or they may send it back to Missouri then they send it to your local office for interview.

Ah... so if it goes to my local office directly then we know for sure we'll need an interview, is that right?

Yes if MSC sends it directly to your local office, that is an indication that an interview is in your future, some local offices are faster than others. You can look up your local office on USCIS site to get an idea of how long before they may schedule you for an appointment.

If I'm correct, they is no interview for those who have been married for at least 2 years. Is this correct?

I know that I still don't know everything (but I try)

MSC sent Claudeth's petition to California and a month later she received her approval notice without an interview. I have no idea why but we are very happy with their decision.
